The China Chair originated in 1944 from the idea of Hans J. Wegner, according to whom furniture should be beautiful from all angles. The design is a hymn to ancient Chinese aesthetics, with the addition of a touch of modernity and traditional craftsmanship.

Fritz Hansen has been an important name in furniture manufacturing worldwide for more than 150 years. By collaborating with visionary artists he gives life to innovative designs that represent the undisputed hallmark of Danish style.

Hans J. Wegner
Often referred to as the master of the chair, he has created almost 500 chairs in his lifetime, many of them considered masterpieces. He is considered one of the most creative among Danish furniture designers.
